A decade ago, I began my career on the frontlines of the healthcare industry as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where I was quickly met with poor leadership and toxic workplace cultures. Those early experiences drove me to pursue leadership roles, fueled by a deep desire to create the kind of change I had never seen. As I moved up, I witnessed firsthand how systems that prioritize results over people’s well-being damage both employees and the organizations they serve.
Even in leadership, I found the same broken patterns: systems that rewarded output over health, leaders who ruled through fear, and cultures that treated people like problems instead of partners. I’ve walked hospital halls at 2 a.m. alongside staff on the brink of burnout. I’ve sat across from executives making decisions that would impact hundreds of lives. I’ve fought to amplify voices that had long been ignored — and stood firm against leaders who forgot that behind every policy is a human being.
Through every role, every challenge, and every sleepless night, one truth became undeniable:
